RESEARCH
STATEMENT
"My research focuses on how children's
experiences in their families and in alternate care settings
influence development. Much of my current research examines
how variations in quality and quantity of child-care, including
after-school care, contribute to children's social, emotional,
and cognitive development. A second major research interest
pertains to children's social relationships. Over the past
20 years, I have examined the connections between children's
relationships with their mothers, fathers, siblings, peers
and teachers. I am currently studying the impact of parent-child
and sibling relationships on children's peer social competence."
